As someone who wears many hats, I’ve learned that keeping a balance in my life is key. Some of my titles include mom, author, therapist and talk show host, but there is one additional title I can’t forget: Alexa! Sometimes the pressures of parenthood and one’s career can be overwhelming. The demands are constant. The time spent seems endless. So how do I do it? How do I manage to keep it all together? The answer is that I never forget who I am and why I am doing it all.
Often people get so mired down in the day-to-day activities that they forget to take a breath for themselves. They forget to just enjoy simple pleasures like going for a walk around the block and admiring nature’s beauty. In my opinion, remembering that you are a person, not a machine, is so vital in living a balanced life. You need to allow yourself moments to remember your purpose and passions. If you are an artist at heart, make sure to carve out 20 minutes a week to draw, sketch, paint etc. If you are a book lover, take that time once a week to read something purely for pleasure. Finding little moments to nurture your authentic self will give you the fuel needed to keep going in other areas of your life.
